You finish a client call with three follow-ups in your head and tell yourself you'll write them down later. Later doesn't come. With this setup you talk your to-dos into a ChatGPT project, and it updates a task tracker in Notion for you. I do this every day on ChatGPT Pro, and it works in Claude Cowork too.

Help me set up a task tracker in Notion with task name, due date and status. Then write instructions for this project so that whenever I dictate an update, you add new tasks, mark completed ones done and update deadlines. Check for duplicates, ask if anything is unclear and summarize what you've changed.
Client proposal is done. Remind me to follow up with Sarah on Friday. Add send invoice for tomorrow.
It does on ChatGPT Pro, which is the plan I use. On other plans OpenAI says it depends on your plan, your Notion permissions, your workspace settings and approvals, so test one task first. Connect Notion under Settings > Plugins, then ask it to add one test task. If it can only search and read, your account doesn't have write access yet.
Connectors are now called apps, and you set them up under Settings > Plugins. Find the app, such as Notion, select Connect and sign in. Very old versions of the phone app show Apps instead. In a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin can switch apps on or off for you.
Open the project, select the more options menu (•••), then Project settings, and type or paste your instructions. They apply to every chat inside that project and override your global custom instructions. That's where your brain dump rules go, so ChatGPT handles every update the same way.
Yes. Select the microphone icon in the message box and speak. ChatGPT turns your recording into text, and you can edit it before you send it. For a to-do list this works better than a live voice chat, because you can check the names and dates before ChatGPT acts on them.
Yes. Claude's Notion connector, built by Notion, can create pages and databases and update them. Connect it under Customize > Connectors, then set up a Daily Brain Dump project in Claude Cowork with the same prompt. Cowork is on the Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans.
The project instructions I'd use, ready to paste into Project settings, so ChatGPT handles vague dates and repeat tasks the same way every time. Plus a Friday prompt that shows you what's overdue and what's coming next week.
You manage my task tracker in Notion. The database is called [Task tracker]. It has three properties: Task (title), Due date (date) and Status (Not started, In progress, Done). Whenever I give you an update, by voice or by typing: 1. Find every task in what I said. One sentence can hold more than one. 2. For each one, search the tracker first. If a task with a similar name exists, update it. Don't add a second copy. 3. New task: add it with a due date and set Status to Not started. Turn words like "tomorrow" or "Friday" into a real date, using today's date and my time zone, [your time zone]. If I didn't give a date, leave Due date empty. 4. Finished task: set Status to Done. Never delete a task. 5. New deadline: change the due date and keep everything else. 6. If you can't tell which task I mean, or a date is unclear, ask me before you change anything. 7. When you're done, give me a short summary in three lists: Added, Done, Moved. Show the due date next to each task. If you can't reach Notion, tell me and don't pretend the change was made.
Look at my task tracker in Notion. List: 1. Tasks that are overdue and not done. 2. Tasks due next week, by day. 3. Tasks with no due date. For each overdue task, ask me whether to move it, mark it done or drop it. Don't change anything until I answer.
