Task mode lets Gemini keep working on a request after you walk away. Google launched it on October 13, 2026, and it replaced the feature called Spark. Switch the toggle next to the text box from Chat to Task. It can use your Google apps, Google Maps and connected apps like Instacart and OpenTable, and it can run on a schedule.
Gemini can fill your Instacart cart, but you place the order yourself. Connect Instacart by typing @Instacart in Gemini, ask for what you need, then select Checkout to pay in the Instacart app. Through Gemini it's delivery only and US only, and Gemini can't pick a delivery time for you.
Yes, through OpenTable in the US and UK. Type @OpenTable and Gemini offers to connect it. It can check availability, book, cancel and look up your reservations. It can't show ratings or menus through OpenTable, so ask it to check Google Maps for ratings first, and tell it to ask you before it books.
Yes. Task mode is for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. In the US, Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month and Ultra starts at $99.99. You also need to be 18 or older with a personal Google Account. It isn't available in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland or Nigeria.

To check or change a schedule on gemini.google.com, open Scheduled. Hover over the schedule and click More, then Run now to test it, or Pause to stop it for a while. Schedules run at about the time you set. Google says they can be late when it's busy.
