Dots are OpenAI's new always-on agents inside ChatGPT. Each dot has its own computer in the cloud, so it keeps working when your laptop is off. Connect Gmail and your calendar, and it can go through your inbox every morning, list the new leads and draft a reply to each one. You read the drafts and send the ones you like.

Every morning at [7 a.m.] [your time zone], starting tomorrow, go through my Gmail from the last 24 hours. Find new leads: anyone asking about my services, prices, availability or booking a call. Add each one to a list with their name, email, what they asked and the date. Then draft a reply to each one in my voice and save it to my Gmail drafts. Check my Google Calendar and offer two times I'm free this week. Don't send anything. Send me the list when you're done. Confirm the schedule you saved.
Dots are always-on AI agents inside ChatGPT that OpenAI launched on September 29, 2026. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser, so it keeps working when your devices are off. It uses the apps you connect, like Gmail and Google Calendar, and can run tasks on a schedule.
Open dots in the ChatGPT desktop app or in ChatGPT in a desktop browser, and follow the introduction. You can also use the mobile app, but not mobile web. Give your dot a name, then connect plugins for the apps you want it to use, such as email and calendar. You can skip plugins and add them later.
Yes. Tell your dot what to check, the time and your time zone, and where to send the results, then ask it to confirm the schedule it saved. Recurring tasks show in Scheduled, where you can disable or delete them. Pausing your dot doesn't stop scheduled runs.
Not if you set it up that way. OpenAI says asking a dot to draft replies doesn't give it permission to send them. You can let it read email without letting it send. For extra safety, add a custom rule in Settings > Personalization > Custom rules and set sending email to Ask before taking action.
Three custom rules that keep your dot on drafts only, and a prompt that teaches it what a real lead looks like in your inbox, so the morning list skips the newsletters and the noise.
In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Personalization and select Custom rules under Permissions. Select Add, describe the action, choose a behavior, then select Add rule.
Rules sit on top of the built-in safety checks. They never remove them.
Remember this for my morning lead check. What I sell: [your services, one line each] A new lead is: [for example: an email from my website contact form, a reply to my newsletter asking about working together, anyone asking about prices or a call] Not a lead: [newsletters, receipts, current clients, vendors, people selling to me] My prices: [price list, or "never quote a price, suggest a call"] How people book: [your booking link] My calendar rules: [days and hours you take calls, call length] When you draft a reply, keep it short and friendly, answer their question, offer two open times from my calendar and sign off as [your name]. If you're not sure something is a lead, put it at the bottom of the list under "Maybe" and don't draft a reply. Never send anything.
Run the morning check once by hand first: type run my lead check now. Then open your dot's profile in the desktop app and select Activity to see what it did and anything it's waiting on you for. Check the first week of drafts before you trust the list.
