Three prompts take you from one resume to a spreadsheet of fresh jobs that fit you, each with a match score and a link. The first two run in a regular ChatGPT chat. The third runs in ChatGPT Work, which searches the job board for you. You read everything and apply yourself.

In the video I said to comment RESUME. This is that guide. In the video I click the + and turn on agent mode. OpenAI now runs this kind of longer task in Work, so step 4 below uses Work.
Act as a senior recruiter. Read my resume, attached. 1. List the 20 job titles I'm most qualified for, best fit first. 2. For each title, list the exact keywords applicant tracking systems scan for in postings for that role. 3. Then give me one short list of the keywords that come up most across all 20, and mark the ones already in my resume. Base everything on what's in my resume. Don't suggest titles that need experience I don't have.
Rewrite my resume into a master template I can tailor fast. - Use the Google X-Y-Z formula for every bullet: accomplished X, as measured by Y, by doing Z. - Use only the facts in my resume. Keep my real job titles, employers and dates. - If a bullet has no number in my resume, don't make one up. Write [add number] so I can fill it in. - Work in the keywords from your last answer where they honestly match my experience. - Remove anything a hiring manager would flag in 10 seconds. After the resume, list what you removed and why.
Use @Indeed to find jobs posted in the last 7 days that match these job titles: [paste your top 10 titles from the first prompt]. Location: [city, or remote]. Minimum salary: [amount, or any]. My master resume is attached. 1. Build me a spreadsheet with one row per job, up to 20 jobs. Columns: company, job title, link to the posting, date posted, salary if listed, match score from 1 to 10 against my master resume, one line on why it fits, and any must-have requirement I don't meet. 2. Sort it by match score, highest first. 3. For the top 5 jobs only, write a version of my master resume tailored to that posting, as a Word document named [Company]-[Job title]-Resume. 4. In each tailored resume, use the posting's own words where they honestly match my experience. Use only the jobs, dates, skills and numbers in my master resume. Don't add a skill, tool, title or result I don't have. If a site asks me to sign in, pause and ask me. Don't apply to anything.
Why the top 5? In the video I ask for a tailored resume for every job. One run that writes 20 resumes uses a lot of your Work allowance, and the quality drops. A spreadsheet of 20 plus 5 strong resumes is a better first run. Ask for the next 5 in the same chat when you're ready.
Where I look: I skip LinkedIn for job hunting. In my experience it's full of ghost jobs, postings for roles nobody is hiring for. I use Indeed, Himalayas and Remote.co. Himalayas and Remote.co both list remote jobs and are free for job seekers. To search them in step 4, name the site in your prompt and Work opens it in its browser.
Connect the Indeed plugin in ChatGPT, then ask with @Indeed for jobs that match your titles, location and salary. Indeed tailors results to your Indeed profile. In ChatGPT Work, you can ask for the results as a spreadsheet with a link, a match score and the requirements you don't meet. You still apply on Indeed's site.
It's a way to write each resume bullet as accomplished X, as measured by Y, by doing Z. Laszlo Bock, who ran people operations at Google, shared it in 2014. Each bullet names a result, puts a number on it and says how you did it. If you don't have a number, find one before you use the bullet.
OpenAI now points people to Work for longer, multi-step tasks. Work has its own cloud browser that can click through websites, sign in when you let it, and make documents and spreadsheets. On the web or phone, select Work. It's on paid plans, and not on Free or Go.
Not with this setup, and I wouldn't want it to. The Indeed app in ChatGPT can't submit applications: it sends you to Indeed to apply. Work asks before any action that commits you to something, and the prompt on this page tells it not to apply. You read each tailored resume and apply yourself.
Yes, as long as every line stays true. Tell ChatGPT to use only the jobs, dates, skills and numbers in your own resume, and to flag requirements you don't meet. Then check the tailored version against your original. Every claim needs to be one you can back up in an interview.
A prompt that tailors your master resume to a single posting and writes a 3-sentence cover letter, plus an interview prep prompt that plays the hiring manager and practices with you.
Use these in a regular ChatGPT chat once you've picked a job. Attach your master resume each time.
Here is the job posting for [job title] at [company]: [paste the full posting]. My master resume is attached. 1. Tailor my resume to this one job. Put the experience that matches the posting first and use the posting's own words where they honestly fit. 2. Use only the facts in my master resume. Don't add a skill, tool, title or number I don't have. 3. Under the resume, list each must-have requirement in the posting and whether my resume shows it. For any I don't meet, tell me how to address it honestly. 4. Then write a cover letter in 3 sentences. Sentence one: why this role at this company, using something specific from the posting. Sentence two: my strongest proof I can do the job, with a real number from my resume. Sentence three: ask for a conversation. Write it the way I talk: plain and direct, no buzzwords.
I have an interview for [job title] at [company] on [date]. The job posting and my tailored resume are attached. Act as the hiring manager for this role. 1. List the 8 questions you're most likely to ask me, based on the posting and the gaps in my resume. 2. For each one, give me a short answer outline using a real example from my resume. Mark any question where my resume has no good example. 3. Then interview me. Ask one question at a time, wait for my answer, and tell me what was strong and what to tighten before you ask the next one.
Before you send anything, put the tailored resume next to your master resume. Every title, date and number has to be one you can talk about in the interview.
